The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (1958)

 In Harryhausen

This diorama ‘playset’ by Michael Parks is a very rare kit with very few copies made. Since this is so rare a copy of the box art is included. This diorama kit was designed to resemble those Marx playsets of long ago though anyone who would want to actually play with the 7th Voyage playset should get his medications readjusted. The various elements of the playset, jail, dragon bones, fire pit, and figures were worked on and off over the course of a few years. The diorama builder had to supply his own Cyclops and in this case it was the GeoMetric version. All paints were acrylics. The dirt base is sculptamold and after drying was sealed with gesso to help provide further strength. This was black base coated and subsequently layered with umbers and siennas. Needless to say, the finished diorama eats up a lot of shelf space.
